Tips For Labs
(these will be coming as lab progresses)

01

Be Early and Prepared

Most of the time the TA is early too and may let you start early. This could end up being the cushion of time you need to finish your lab on time or you could get out early. Also, you want to be able to spend your time verifing your theortical expectations from pre-lab and understanding, not just going through the sets of a circuit recipe.

02

CFP

We found that using the CFP worked so much better than the other detectors.

03

Check for wires touching

Often a resistor and a capacitor may touch in a way they should not causing problems.

04

Always check Cap direction

Many people in our lab had caps facing the wrong way causing them to pop.

05

Always turn your power supply off when changing

This is just a general good practice for safe of the operator and circuit.

06

Get a square pizza box- Little Italy

Pizza boxes with cut corners are not as easy to work with. For one reason the length of the box is hard to find.

07

OP-Amp Design

Ask how to use negative voltage in the lab to turn on the Op-Amp

08

Work on Project Early

The final comes fast as a busy time. It is best to work ahead and finish before Thanksgiving.

09

Dont be afraid to use LTSPICE on project

LTspice can be extremely helpful in the design process.
